Additional Roles in the Field

In addition to his clinical and leadership roles, Dr. Laperouse also serves as Director of Medical Informatics for Emergency Care Partners (ECP). In this position, he spearheads efforts from a clinical perspective to develop cutting-edge medical analytics reporting capabilities to obtain, dissect and administer real-time data. The platform utilizes any electronic health record (EHR) data and transforms it into relatable information that communicates with customizable dashboards. Working with real-time data allows Dr. Laperouse and his team to take both big-picture and granular views of all data points to enable coaching, counseling, and/or justification for the action.

“We have separated ourselves from other ER groups by instituting this process. I think many ER groups have turned into staffing companies. While we staff emergency departments, we are an ER management company. These different platforms and dashboards allow us to manage the department and our providers. We need to know when to have more coverage; we need to know when to have less coverage so that we can keep both the hospital and the group viable.” – Dr. Laperouse.

As a charismatic and respected leader in his field, Dr. Laperouse’s expertise was sought by national news outlets during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic to provide critical updates on hospital capacity and vaccinations. He was the face of emergency medicine for Southern Louisiana during the Pandemic. More recently, he participated in a radio interview to educate listeners on this year’s flu season and when flu symptoms warrant a trip to the emergency room.
